Retire early, vacation, relax, live better on less in tropical Southeast Asia – your money buys more. Find the best places to retire in Asia and how to increase your earnings.

Beaches, mountains, lakes, islands, warm seas, lush greenery, fine weather, friendly people, great food, shopping at low prices – and a host of new opportunities. What more could one ask for? This is what expatriates living in South East Asian locations can experience daily.

The best places to retire in 2012 for most? Where it's cheap to live well so you spend less. Enjoy a happier, more relaxed life in SE Asia!

'Retirement' has new meanings and implications, but it is really about more personal and financial freedom. It means taking or regaining control of your life, having fulfilled most if not all of your obligations to others: employers, governments, family. 'Retiring' should mean the ability to focus a little more on YOURSELF. Shouldn't you be able to retire young and healthy enough to enjoy the things that YOU still want to do? How about managing it within the next 52 days? Start down the fast track to early retirement here.

Knowing what money you have and what you are spending are important today more than ever. Mint is free budget management software that can be accessed from a computer or by getting the free app for Apple and Android phones and tablets.

Taking control of your future may require some significant changes. In order to achieve happiness and also preserve your wealth, some courage is required; it may not be easy doing this in your present environment or location. Therefore, be prepared to travel in search of a better place to live than the one you are just existing in now; consider the many popular retirement locations in Central America or even nicer, Asia.

Retirement abroad in a year-round warm climate with lower cost of living sounds attractive, doesn't it? An early, cheaper, more comfortable retirement – and not just 'survival' – can be yours in 2012, even with limited resources, if you live part or all of your time in Southeast Asia. Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia – particularly Bali, Singapore or even Laos are not only exotic places to visit, they can be ideal for long or regular holidays as well as being considered among the best foreign retirement locations in the world.

Get yourself on a cheap flight to Asia iconand surround yourself with the culture, traditions and charm of friendly, welcoming people. If you need to, you can earn extra income anywhere now with online business, stocks or forex trading and more, by computer or even mobile phone. See the menu on the left.

If you cannot live well on what you earn, live where you spend less! You could stay in a country where your money buys more – so you can live better!

The best places to retire early, retire younger, no matter whether you are young and single, middle-aged or retired already, are in the tropics of Southeast Asia. Get out of the rat race, save money or earn more. Do both! Enjoy a new lifestyle. We'll help you find a better life or even live overseas tax-free more or less permanently, including ...

... Retiring in South East Asia!

For you, it may already be 'tomorrow' in SE Asia, but wherever you are, TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life. Make the most of it! Many northern hemisphere residents are suffering extreme winter cold, but the SE Asian region is almost always warm. The 'cool season' brings clear skies, with mostly dry, sunny days; cold nights can be expected from November to February in northern Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, especially in the mountainous regions. Elsewhere, it rarely gets 'cold' – in North American or European terms.

Are you satisfied with the way things are?   Perhaps you are unhappy or just bored with your present existence that you call 'life'? Are you suffering from the loss of a long-time partner? Life for middle-aged or senior singles often isn't much fun. Maybe now is the right time to love again. Even if you're young it's so easy to fall into a financial trap, with all the worry, stress and increasing pressure of trying to keep up with payments of every description. However, to improve your quality of life, you may need to change the way you see yourself and life in general. For whatever is 'ailing' you, there is usually a solution. We hope you find it here.

Are you making enough money   – for the things you need or want right now or for your future and retirement? Are you working two jobs or overtime to pay bills and taxes? Wouldn't you like to be able to retire richer – within 5 years? Learn how a 'speed retirement system' made extremely healthy returns in both 2010 and 2011. Watch an explanatory video, then try out the service yourself for 30 days for just $7.

How about the climate?   Whether or not it's global warming or natural climate change, much of North America and Europe suffer unpleasantly long, cold, miserable winters. Most of Southeast Asia has no 'real' winter. Except in higher elevations where nighttime temperatures can drop to below freezing, all you can expect are some cool evenings and crisp early mornings around the end of the year in the north of Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, but little or no cold weather in the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

Are you suffering yet another awful winter? Get some hints for living comfortably in the tropics and compare the temperature and current weather in popular SE Asian locations compared to, say, London, New York or San Francisco!

What about your financial future?   Are your plans still 'on track' in spite of the continuing indecisions in the markets? Will your pension or retirement plan provide enough? These are valid concerns for most of us. Will you have to sell your house to survive, or will it be taken from you? Start now and you will have not only more options but could retire with enough money in 5 years. Beginning a new life in Southeast Asia is only one of those options, but it would allow you to experience a lifestyle that most people only dream about, and at probably far lower cost than where you live now. Many foreigners from the West are already living or retired in SE Asia. Thousands of American ex-military personnel have chosen to retire in the Philippines. Australians love Bali. All nationalities have settled in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and other Asian locations.

Your dollar, pound and euro will buy more in Asia!  Cheaper places to live, cheaper food and drink means you can retire on less money or retire young enough to fully enjoy life. Depending on where you choose to live, your current resources and foreign income can often buy 5 to 10 times more than in the USA, Canada, most of Europe and Australasia. Property purchase, lease or rental, domestic services such as cooking, housekeeping and gardening (quite the norm in many locations) and high quality medical care in several countries of SE Asia can be incredibly cheap compared to what you're used to – not to mention the lower prices of food and drink in your home.

Don't forget eating out and both day and nighttime entertainment and activities – especially if you are single! In quantity, quality and variety, there are places in South East Asia that have it all in abundance – places you are welcome to enjoy all year.

So many great locations to live, work and retire in Asia!  Being the world's largest continent (17 million square miles) and with the highest population of over 4 billion, there's still plenty of space in Asia! How much do you know about Asia and its forty countries and many popular locations. To get your geographical 'bearings', click on the small map to reach our Asia Destinations page, with its interactive map of the whole region. Here you can get comprehensive visitor information for all the countries of Asia. See where Southeast Asia is; this is the tropical area where most Westerners feel comfortable and the main reason so many of us choose SE Asia as our retirement location.

Choosing the 2012 best places to retire in Asia (or elsewhere) or live for part of the year, is a personal matter, and reasons are many and varied. However, there should be somewhere to suit anyone, whatever their financial situation or personal preferences. Popular Southeast Asia locations include the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia (including Bali), Singapore, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Brunei and Burma. They're all different and each contributes something to the magic of South East Asia. Visit our pages with useful information for visitors and potential retirees. See the menu on the left.

In many of these places, expats and foreigners can find safe communities with friendly people and a much lower cost of living, yet with the most if not all of the necessities and comforts of home. With discount airlines offering cheap flights to Asia it's now possible to travel between these countries and beyond to India and the Middle East, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and even the west coast of North America.

What about Asian food? Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay, Indonesian and Indian dishes (as well as 'fusion' cuisine) are probably among your favorites already. There are so many different eating experiences available all over Asia and they're better than at your local Asian food restaurants. Living in Asia, you will get the real thing!

Does this all seem like a far-off dream?  No way! Most countries of South East Asia have developed their facilities and communications, such as mobile phone and internet access. With constantly improving technology, maybe already better than what you're used to in your home country. However, Asian culture, traditions and a more serene approach to life still remain, especially once you're outside the major cities.

This can be your life too, and with plenty of extra time on your hands, if you need to, you can earn extra income while living in Asia – with less effort or stress than it takes now. Enjoy working or relaxing when you feel like it! Take back control of your time and your life. That's what 'retirement' is – or should be – all about.

So many new, easy ways of increasing income  now, wherever you choose to live – for young people, middle-aged and even retired seniors. The Internet offers a multitude of different money-making opportunities working either from the comfort of home, an internet cafe – or even while relaxing by a pool or at the beach! Join the hundreds of thousands of people earning their living from a home-based internet business. Many of them are simply promoting and selling their own or others' products and services – known as affiliate marketing. With the right approach and techniques you could be earning extra annual income within a short time – anywhere. Programmers, authors, journalists, writers and others work online in different countries from their employers or as freelancers.

There is virtually nowhere in Asia (or much of the rest of the world) you cannot use a computer or mobile phone and they are just about all you need now to live and invest overseas. Live cheaply in the sunshine, stay in touch with family and friends, run a business, invest money, trade the markets or monitor your online bank and brokerage accounts.

It's possible to run a website without a computer or mains power as long as you are in range of a local cellular phone service or WiFi 'hotspot' – even in partly undeveloped countries like Laos or Burma! You can browse websites on quite basic handsets which you can bring to or buy in many parts of Asia; mobile phone and internet services are cheap and available almost everywhere.

If computers and the internet don't appeal to you as business tools or the way to earn income overseas, then you could consider a part or full time job teaching English or voluntary work in local communities. Native English speakers are needed in many Asian countries to teach students of all ages, including business people. Your first move should be a free trial online TEFL course – that's Teaching English as a Foreign Language.

Learn how to start a business or retire in Bali, the Philippines or Thailand, such as exporting local goods, owning a Thai bar, restaurant, shop or guest-house. Be sure to read our articles on business for foreigners first as there are things you need to know about.

Did you know you can list your home or other property as a vacation rental when you're not living in it? This is the type of accommodation that many people who live away from home for months at a time choose for themselves – or to earn income from their home or second property.

Stocks, Commodities, Futures, Options, Forex and ETF trading are popular pursuits and potential sources of extra income for retirees and of course others. Stock market trading, especially with penny stocks, can be very lucrative as also can forex trading which you can practice for free, then begin trading currency pairs with $50 using a credit card or PayPal with eToro. Note that with financial market trading, there is the risk of loss as well as gain. See our pages on these topics on the side bar menu at the left.

Find everything you need to know about lifestyle and income in a pleasant environment on our pages. Learn about offshore banking and how to protect your assets so you can survive and thrive in this time of economic crisis which is affecting people worldwide.

The price of gold has risen annually for 15 years; in 2011 it topped $1,900 an ounce. At around $1,700 currently, it's a great time to buy some (more). There are good reasons for investing in gold and silver and the best way in our opinion is with a bullion account; you can add to it easily when prices fall back temporarily from new highs or cash some in to take a profit. You will benefit in the near future as well as longer term. Learn more about holding gold and silver safely and securely vaulted on our Bullion page.

Live the best part of your life in an exotic location in Asia.   You could be retiring early and living in Southeast Asia in 2012; not only more cheaply but more happily too. Explore new places, play golf on beautiful courses, play tennis, swim, dive, surf, sail; or just relax on the beach or by the pool – and yes, with that iconic umbrella cocktail in your hand, as you see in those ads for exotic locations!

Visit our Before You Move page and also check out some of the other topics on the side bar menu on the left. Visit our Travel and Bookings page, get visas and travel insurance – whether you are flying from the USA, UK or other country or perhaps looking for decent, affordable accommodation in Bangkok.
